Notes¶
General
FAO mentioned that it is important to continue the GRSF activities because the current issues block them from defining the date and agenda of the forthcoming FIRMS steering committee. They plan to organize it for Feb 2019, or later if needed.
FORTH mentioned that:
GRSF has started as a BlueBRIDGE project activity. Although BlueBRIDGE has finished since Feb 2018, the GRSF records are still not public. FORTH was asking (almost in every TCOM) to publish the records, they dedicated much effort and time and the results are hidden from the public. This has negative consequences: it is not possible to demonstrate the results of the last years, lost funding opportunities, and others.
The strategy followed so far for GRSF activities has been proven problematic, therefore it is important to change it. Nowadays, one should start building a open community around a product/service as early as possible.
Regarding decision making, FORTH highlighted the fact that GRSF was born in the context of the BB project and as such it belongs to the institutions which jointly developed it; the question of ‘who decides to make it public’ points out the need to revise the decision making process.FORTH perceives that FAO’s tickets are improvements and new requirements rather than bug fixes.
In the context of BlueBridge FORTH dedicated to GRSF-related activities more effort that the funded effort. After the end of the project, FORTH has dedicated more time than what it was designed as in-kind contribution.
