16-04-15 GRSF overall architecture¶
Meeting Notes:
Topics: Overall GRSF applications architecture and identify main software components and players
Participants: Pasquale Pagano (CNR), Yannis Marketakis (FORTH), Nikos Minadakis (FORTH), Anton Ellenbroek (FAO), Aureliano Gentile (FAO, Moderator)
Notes
On CNR initiating the SLA with FORTH
PP/YM: The SLA has not started yet, but if FORTH provides the licence the work would be easier. It was decided that this new SLA will be based on the bilateral agreement signed in the past between CNR and FORTH which includes a part on MatWare (See attached document in this Wiki page: "ICS Matware Bluebridge Access Rights License_Agreement.pdf"). It was clarified that the agreement was made for research activities while the new SLA must ensure operational activities also after the end of the BB project, guaranteeing FAO and other partners to exploit free of charge the application powering the GRSF.
In principle there should be two documents: one operational from a technical view point between CNR and FORTH, and another one in terms of GRSF services provided by CNR to FAO. The MoU between CNR and FAO is the overall umbrella under which this specific SLA would be formulated. Anyway, this was not considered as priority for the moment and may be not needed.
On FORTH consulting its legal office
The legal office confirmed that with the signed agreement the MatWare software installed in the GRSF VRE can be used free of charge.
On FORTH about deployment architecture and effort estimate
FORTH made this Wiki page https://support.d4science.org/projects/stocksandfisherieskb/wiki/GRSF_KB
Half of available 10 PMs has been already consumed, there is the possibility to overspend but limited.
The table on effort highlights that the work for the components on harvesting data, CMS and unique identifiers has not yet started. FORTH was asked to wait for more detailed requirements.
PP: The first GRSF version should be released on October (month 14), therefore it is important to progress with the requirements now. YM: Possibly finalize the requirement by the second week of May.
YM also noted that the estimated effort are enough for underlying services for the CMS rather than for a true user interface.
PP mentioned the possibility to use effort from Work Package 9 (9.3) for the dissemination of data. CNR, FORTH and University of Athens have that effort and according to the requirements it will be decided who should do that part of the development. The requirement should also specify if the GRSF data should be exposed as a dataset or also through web services for individual record with search capabilities. AG indicated that for exploiting the Unique Identifiers such webservices might be required.
FORTH suggested to complement the requirements with examples based on real data.
CNR confirmed that these meetings on GRSF overall architecture are in line to what was expected.
Summary of key Points
- Edit the SLA for utilize MatWare in GRSF VRE
- More detailed requirements
- WP9 effort to contribute to the development of the dissemination component
- VRE plan
Follow-up actions
- CNR: to edit the SLA based on the agreement signed with FORTH. FAO to contribute upon request.
- FORTH: to update the table on effort by aligning the terminology utilized in the first "GRSF architecture" meeting
- FORTH: to start/continue the work on the dashboard for administrator (to launch and control the harvesting steps)
- FORTH: to hold on the other steps to save effort which will be used when requirements will be more consolidated
- FAO: to draft more detailed requirements based on the outcomes of the BB TWG meeting
- FAO: to launch another call when the SLA has been edited and some initial progress made on requirements compilation, possibly in two weeks
