Notes¶
- Marc Taconet introduced the matter recalling the FIRMS FSC10 decisions to move ahead toward the ownership of the GRSF.
- Ray Hilborn asked clarification on which is the value added of the product of the BlueBRIDGE project, the Global Record of Stocks and Fisheries (GRSF).
- The GRSF is today offering a standard for unique identifiers of stocks and fisheries and a web based product offering data services for inventorying stocks and fisheries from all over the world in support to stocks status monitoring and fisheries management, particularly in support to SDG indicator 14.4.1 and to traceability needs with GRSF unique identifiers.
- Mike Melnychuck recalled the need to identify a market for the product. MT clarified that the most interest appears to be in the public side but also the private sector is interested regarding traceability services. A market analysis is expected to provide real perspectives.
- RH asked what is needed from their side to move ahead. MT clarified that along the formulation of the value propositions and the business model we need to materialize the specific involvement of each actor and how it can practically work.
- AG briefly described the FSC10 decision on the Governance model option for GRSF-SDG14 (http://www.fao.org/fi/static-media/MeetingDocuments/FIRMS/FIRMS_FSC10/FIRMS_FSC10_Report.pdf Figure 1, page 33).
- Mr Hilborn confirmed the will to stay involved and to cooperate. RAM is a important source for SOFIA and this activity need to be conciliated also with Mr Yimin Ye. Mr Taconet confirmed that this conciliation is necessary while recalling that the online capacity developed in the GRSF was done in this spirit and now also need to take into account what type of support can be provided to countries.
