23 June 2016 GRSF requirements - UUIDs¶
Meeting Notes
Topics: Requirements and specifications for UUIDs.
Participants: FishSource (Susana Segurado); RAM (Mike Melnychuk, Ray Hilborn); FAO (Emmanuel Blondel, Giulia Gorelli, Aureliano Gentile)
Notes¶
UUIDs (universally unique identifier)
- Several topics were discussed. Specific questions and answers are stored in the working file GRSF_UUIDs.xlsx (see details and link below)
- Among others, the following triggered extensive discussions:
- Which fields can accept multiple entries (beyond area)? Species and Management entity might be kept aggregated in some cases, but which cases?
- For resources incoming records: do we need to dissect at species level (similarly to fisheries)?
- Do we need to add "Type" (element of the GRSF database) among the UUID elements? (i.e. to distinguish between stocks and resources or different type of fisheries, provided that a Type information is available in the source databases)
- Do we need management entity in the stock information (beyond the assessor/data owner)?
- Year, do we need to add the time component in the UUIDs?
- A proximity indication is needed to group similar fisheries/resources.
Follow-up actions
- RAM provide intersection table between geographic areas in RAM and FAO standard areas
- FAO and FishSource provide more examples of UUIDs based on real data
