16-02-09 Data source: FishSource, further investigations¶

Topics: Checking more in details the Fishsource (SFP) data structure and its staging site. The FishSource data model was discussed in some details and participants acquired information on how FishSource data are structured. The new site was also introduced by FishSource team and the new profile page was described.

Notes
- A stock in FishSource can have more than one assessment, e.g. Haddock in Georges Bank is assessed from Canada and from USA
- Management Unit: Organization + Species + Area
- FishSource can expose in XML/JSON part of its content, the developers need clear instructions on what should be exposed and indexed
Follow-up actions
- FIRMS and FishSource to build key concepts matrix for the three sources (FIRMS, FishSource, RAM) and formulate minimum data requirement for the GRSF (this work is functional to the BB TWG 1-2 March 2016, see links to Excel files below)
- FishSource to implement the data exposure according to the minimum data requirement
- FORTH to harvest the FishSource data once exposed
The BB TWG will give feedback on the proposal for the core information the GRSF will contain.
