Catch-per-unit-effort (CPUE) series show recent increases in the Celtic Sea, Bay of Biscay and Western Iberian fishing areas due to strong recruitment. A similar but more moderate increase was recorded for the North Sea area (ICES, 2012). Trends Last updated on 11 Nov 2013 Landings were around 850 tons between 1978 and 1985, before an increase occurred, peaking in 2003-2004 at 4,000 tons.
