Add Rights status to documents

Description
This is a suggestion for an additional facility for D4Science.
Projects usually produce papers and articles for conferences and journals etc. for which it is good to be stored in a central place so everyone in the project can have access. However, the access and what can be done with the paper maybe restricted, depending on a) whether the paper is accepted (time lag) and b) under what conditions the paper is accepted or published i.e. varies - no restrictions, Open Access (time limit), rights assigned to journal (so read only), etc. It would be helpful if users could assign a status to an uploaded document which can be seen by all users. In the simplest scenario, there would be a set of tags (e.g. Free reuse, Embargoed, Open Access, Restricted). Maybe even have the CC0 licence options? In a more sophisticated scenario, Embargoed and Open Access would prompt for and add the date the embargo ends to the tag and Restricted would prompt for a contact email (and open the end users email application if clicked). It will be up to the user to upload PDFs with the appropriate security features - or MS Word files if there are no restrictions.

what you are asking for is quite an interesting request for enhancement.
Currently we manage rights at folder level and all documents in the same folder inherit the same rights. So we could think to support something like
- at folder creation time a user can decide among several conditions: no restrictions, Open Access (time limit), rights assigned to journal (so read only), etc.
- the same user can then share the folder either with a specific group of users or with all the members of a VRE (this is already supported)
- any users accessing that folder will see a set of tags (e.g. Free reuse, Embargoed, Open Access, Restricted).
- in case the embargo has been specified, the date of the embargo ends will be prompted and the user can either ask to be notified when the embargo will last or send a request to the author.
This enhancement is possible and it should meet your needs. We cannot allocate effort in the short term but if it meets the needs you expressed it will be added to our list of enhancements and it will be considered as soon as we will assign effort to this area of the platform.
PS: please do not assign the request to you next time otherwise we risk to miss such helpful requests.
