Description

a while ago we discussed in Pisa the deployment of a Stanbol instance in d4science (currently we're accessing our own instance in Vienna with the stanbol-wrapper). We agreed to provide a deployable *.war file and to externalize the integrated Solr.

To who can I provide the *.war for deployment and to who can I address the demand to create a Solr instance which is accessible by the deployed Stanbol? For the war we still have to make some tests but we need to clarify which rights we have on the Solr-instance, if it is accessible via web from outside the d4science context for configuration and to charge data. Hence it might be reasonable if we had the Solr-instance available soon.

thank you!

my college just brought up one important question: which is the version of Solr where you are going to create the instance for Stanbol on? This is important for our tests here to create a deployable Stanbol with an external Solr

Hello Wolfgang,
first thing to do is to ask for a new Virtual Machine to our sysadmin office. To do so please open a new issue here and select Tracker: VM Creation

thank you! Just a question for understanding: will the VM host the applicationserver (f.e. tomcat), the war and Solr or do you provide one central Solr installation with instances for different applications?

The new VM will host tomcat enhanced with SmartGears (to enable authorization, authentication, and accounting). The WAR will be deployed on this server.

Solr will be available in a different (cluster) instance. Solr version will be 7.2.

How big do you plan it needs to be?

@Pasquale as a standalone-application Stanbol requires about 22G (!) on our server. But this application contains an integrated Solr. So for the beginning we would probably need 30GB and hopefully much less after a successful externalization from Solr.

To test this I need to know on which Solr version you're creating the instance since there is probably a dependency between the version of the Solr and those of the accessing Stanbol which would require a conversion of our data first. After local debundling and testing I could say exactly how much space we need for the VM

to sum it up: please tell me your Solr version. Then I can run local tests and tell you exactly how much space we need for the VM

I already reported the version of Solr. It will be the latest officially distributed that should be the version 7.2.

I am going to close this support request since everything should be clear now. Please open two requests selecting as Tracker the one called 'VM Creation'. With the first one please add the request for the VM hosting tomcat and with the second one please ask for Solr. You will be informed about the availability of them through the dedicated tickets.

I beg you pardon - hadn't seen it
